1. Introduction

The One Day Will is a technology platform operated by 10438600 Canada Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting the personal information of our clients in accordance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Ontario privacy law.

2. Not a Law Firm

The One Day Will is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Information you submit through this platform is collected for the purpose of facilitating the preparation of estate planning documents by a licensed Ontario lawyer. The lawyer-client relationship is formed solely between you and the lawyer you are connected with through this platform. Solicitor-client privilege attaches to communications between you and your lawyer, and not to your interactions with the platform itself. Nothing on this platform constitutes legal advice, and no solicitor-client relationship is created by your use of this platform.

Clients are required to initial their acknowledgment of this disclaimer before proceeding with any Will or Power of Attorney questionnaire.

3. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

  • Identity information: full legal name, date of birth, address
  • Contact information: email address, phone number
  • Family and beneficiary information: names and relationships of spouse, children, beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and guardians
  • Asset information: general descriptions of real property, financial accounts, and personal property
  • Payment information: processed securely through Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers
  • Technical information: IP address, browser type, pages visited, collected through Google Analytics and Meta Pixel
  • ZipFields vault data: if you choose to import your information from your ZipFields vault, we receive only the data you explicitly approve for sharing

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Prepare your estate planning documents through a licensed Ontario lawyer
  • Process payments for platform and legal fees
  • Schedule and conduct your Will review and execution appointment
  • Send you notifications related to your file
  • Improve our platform through anonymized analytics
  • Comply with our legal obligations

5. Who We Share Your Information With

We share your information only as necessary:

  • Your lawyer: a licensed Ontario lawyer assigned through the platform — to prepare your Will or Power of Attorney
  • Stripe: to process payments securely
  • Zapier: to automate document generation workflows
  • Google Analytics: for anonymized site analytics
  • Meta: for advertising analytics via Meta Pixel
  • Zoom: for virtual Will review and execution appointments
  • Amelia: for appointment scheduling
  • ZipFields: if you choose to share your personal information through your ZipFields vault, we will receive that data via a verified ZipFields data request. Your explicit consent is required before any information is shared through ZipFields, and you may revoke access at any time through your ZipFields account. ZipFields operates under its own privacy policy available at zipfields.com/privacy.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party.

6. Data Retention

The platform retains your intake data for two years after your file is closed. Executed Wills and estate documents are retained by your lawyer in accordance with Law Society of Ontario record-keeping obligations. Payment records are retained as required by applicable tax law.

7. Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies to operate this platform and analyze traffic. You can manage your cookie preferences at any time using the consent banner on our site. Our cookie practices are governed by our Cookie Policy, available at theonedaywill.com/cookie-policy.

We use:

  • Functional cookies: required for the platform to operate
  • Statistics cookies: Google Analytics, anonymized
  • Marketing cookies: Meta Pixel, for advertising

8. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach involving your personal information, 10438600 Canada Inc. will notify affected individuals in accordance with PIPEDA and any applicable provincial privacy legislation. Notification will be provided as soon as feasible and within the timeframes required by law. 9. Your Rights

Under PIPEDA you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent to collection or use, subject to legal and contractual limitations
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at www.priv.gc.ca

10. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted transmission (SSL), secure third-party payment processing through Stripe, and access controls limiting who can view your data.

11. Jurisdiction

This platform currently serves clients in Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. As we expand to additional provinces or jurisdictions, this policy will be updated accordingly. Quebec clients should note that Quebec Law 25 imposes additional privacy obligations which will be addressed in a separate addendum upon expansion to Quebec.
